The Garsak Kennel was founded in the early eighties by Gary Hooker and John Lockey and our first Great Dane was a huge blue dog called Max who we re-homed from rescue.  Max was followed by harlequin brother and sister Alf and Astra.  It was with Alf and Astra that we took our first steps into the show world and they did very well for us.

At the time Gary's attention was drawn to a beautiful bitch from the Yacanto Kennel and we viewed a closely related litter with the intention of having a fawn dog.  However we met and fell in love with our first Champion, Isaac, a stunning dark brindle dog.  Isaac had a spectacular start to his showing career and was crowned a Champion while still just a junior. Tragically, Isaac met with an accident leaving him partially sighted in one eye and thus cutting short his show career.  Isaac was a tremendously important dog to the Garsak Kennel and is never forgotten.
At around the same time we were given the opportunity to import our foundation `Beautiful Beginnings` bitch from the Swedish Grand Fawns Kennel.  Magda, Champion Grand Fawns Fauna of Garsak.  It is to Magda that we owe so much.  Magda was the absolute epitome of all that is so wonderful about this noble breed.  Not only was she an absolute joy to share our lives with and a stunning show dog,  she was more than this and was the all time icon of a mother.  Magda produced no less than 10 UK champions including the highly successful Champion Garsak Sir Galahad,,,,,,,,,
